Jasminators, here are three tips to stay fit for the summer:
1. Grill outdoors: I recently got a grill at my new place and I love it!! I didn't know how easy and fun it was to cook outdoors. Not only is it easy, but it's a lot healthier for you. For example, instead of cooking chicken in oil in a pan you can just throw it on the grill with some seasoning and it will actually taste better than if it was cooked in grease! You can also cook hamburgers, sausages, turkey dogs anything you want on a grill. I haven't tried it yet but my friend told me you can actually grill apples and pears and it makes for a good dessert :) Just make sure you know how to work the grill and don't leave the propane on because that can be dangerous.
2. Swim: I'm not the best swimmer, but living in Cali you have no choice but to swim in these scorching hot summer days. I've been doing a lot of night swimming at my pool and I realized it was a lot more exercise than I thought it was. Swimming works practically all the muscles in your body and to me it's a lot more fun than going to the gym. If you want a super-intense workout, try swimming in the ocean. If you're scared of the deep water like me you can just swim parallel in the shallow end of the ocean. Even if you just walk parallel in the shallow ocean water it's a great form of exercise. Just make sure you wear your sunscreen, since you should definitely only be swimming in the ocean during the day.
3. Make a bomb fruit salad: I'm obsessed with fruit. My favorites are mangoes and strawberries. I like to go to the store and get tons of different fruits like oranges, apples, grapes, bananas, blueberries, raspberries and mix it all in one bowl. You actually want to cut the orange in half and squeeze it on the rest of the fruits. Make sure you cut each fruit in small pieces too. I like to add evaporated milk with a sprinkle of sugar to make my fruit salad on point. You can also serve it with sherbet or frozen yogurt. Once you make the fruit salad make sure you seal it tightly so that the fruit doesn't turn brown! You can also freeze some of the leftover fruit. I love frozen fruit especially when it's super hot out.
I hope my 3 little tips help you guys out in staying fit for the summer. Please share with me your summer tips to staying in shape. I'm always looking for new ways to be healthy :)
