What's not to love about a Betsey Johnson show? She may be abuela status, but the 71-year-old designer consistently teaches the fashion world a thing or two about fun.

Backstage at Badgley Mischka, we caught up with design duo Mark Badgley and James Mischka where they shared their Fall 2014 inspiration.
“Fall is all about a polished textured glamour with a modern edge that translates seamlessly from day into evening. The fabrics, palette and embellishment are inspired by the romance and opulence of turn-of the century Vienna, specifically the artistic movements if Gustav Klimt and Josef Hoffman. Badgley Mischka plays textures and dimension with prints and embellishment for a rich, informed luxury.”

Alice + Olivia’s FW '14 collection was an enchanted forest to say the least. Set in the McKittrick Hotel, where “Sleep No More” takes place, you were guided down candlelit hallways before entering Stacey Bendet’s Mid-Winter Night’s Dream. Dresses with brocade, beading, and lace greeted you everywhere you turned, a few serious coats, and then there was THIS:

We were invited backstage during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to chat with Spanish designer Custo Barcelona about his collection for Autum/Winter 2014. This season marks 17 years since the brand was first invited to show at New York Fashion Week!
Tell about the inspiration behind your collection this season!
"The inspiration was to follow the turn from the last collection into sophistication and refinement."

When you enter the scene at Tracy Reese, the first thing you hear is “Helloooooooo Gorgeous!!” from across the room. That would be legendary makeup artist and one of our all-time favorite girly girls, Mally Roncal. Surrounded by models, brushes, and about a million lipsticks, it’s hard to get to her, but somehow we managed.

The tres-chic trio that makes up Timo Weiland are friends and colleagues Timo Weiland, Alan Eckstein, and Donna Kang - and boy did they score big with this season's collection.

I've seen many desingers show their collections again and again at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Each season, I love attending Custo Barcelona's show because I know it's going to be loads of color (even for Fall fashion week, which is dominated by black, white and gray) and loads of fun. Designer Custo Dalmau is the king of mixing textures with bold colors, and this season was truly a wow moment.

Spanish house Desigual sent down a lovely collection of dresses and coats for Fall/Winter 2014, but the highlight of the runway show had to be its approach to moving the models down the runway.

Nautica is secretly one of my favorite shows each season. Though I cover women's fashion and love following women's trends (Us guys really get the short end of the stick...and nothing REALLY ever changes.), it's always nice to see a collection that I can actually covet...for myself.

The legendary house of Pedro del Hierro Madrid presented their Fall/Winter 2014 collection at Eyebeam Atelier with Creative Director Carmen March at the helm. Oversized knit coats in mustard yellow and dark gray and cream plaid were juxtaposed by sleek, solid black and black lace jumpsuits with v's so deep you'll-need-to-hit-the-gym-to-wear-them.
