Rising star and daughter of the late singer Jenni Rivera, Chiquis Rivera, appears on the cover of Latina’s April 2015 issue.
If Zoë Saldaña has always seemed wiser than her years, it’s because she was raised by a strong woman – her mother, Asalia. In honor of Mother’s Day, here are five lessons Saldaña applies to this day.
1. Male friends tend to be more honest. They don’t sugarcoat their opinions or criticisms.
2. If your neighbor gives you a plate of food, make sure you wash the plate before returning it. “I like this one,” Saldaña says. “Basically it means to always show gratitude.”
How lucky are we? Latina.com scored an exclusive invite to the set of Dancing With The Stars in Los Angeles, where Armando Christian Perez (better known as that lil' chico Pitbull!), was shooting a promo for the upcoming 16th season of everyone's favorite reality dancing competition!
Our celebs have gotten really savvy with social media, particularly Twitter, especially when it comes to breaking news. Gloria Estefan just joined earlier this year (@gloriaestefan), thanks to Pharrell, who produced her new album, Miss Little Havana. Ever since joining, her following has grown to 75,000 and counting.
Here’s the icon’s take on social media and why it’s helped her get closer to her fans.
Ever wondered why there hasn’t been another Gloria Estefan, or another Shakira? We’re talking Latinas who have transcended huge barriers and gone on to become global phenoms? Sure, Enrique and Pitbull are having huge years, but what about the women? The Glorias and Shakiras seem to come around every eon—and according to Estefan, there’s a reason for that.
Gloria Estefan Fever continues! Given that Estefan collaborated with Pitbull on her new album, Miss Little Havana, we just had to ask her to give us her overall opinion of Mr. 305—who rocked LATINA’s Quinces party in NYC.
Here’s what Gloria had to say about her fellow cubano:
As part of ‘Gloria Estefan Week’ here at LATINA, we decided to do a song-by-song breakdown of her new dance album, Miss Little Havana, out September 27 (hard copy at Target, digital copy through iTunes). We went out and bought the album’s Target edition because we loved the album art by Cuban American artist LEBO so much!
Check out our unique take on Glorita’s latest offering (the Target version) below:
When Marc and J.Lo split up, we were left with this huge void. Gone was our version of the royal couple. Just like that. The good news? We will always have Gloria and Emilio Estefan—our very own First Family!
We introduced you to Joey Montana, one of Panama’s hottest and most buzzed-about singer/songwriters to emerge in the last years. His first solo album, Flow Con Clase, continues to churn out hit singles. Staying true to his persona of “pop-urban artist with a romantic essence,” the dimple-faced cutie has gifted Latina with our very own “Quinceañera” track! It sounds like it would be the perfect theme song for Quiero Mis Quinces, if you ask us.
