The richest woman in Spain, Rosalia Mera, and a major stakeholder in, Inditex SA, the company that owns the Zara chain died at the age of 69 this week.
Mera cofounded the first Zara store in 1975 in La Coruna with her then-husband, Amancio Ortega.
Inditex issued a statement on Friday confirming her death but did not provide any details as to the cause of it, according to the Associated Press.

An elderly Spanish woman took it up upon herself to restore a damaged 19th century painting of Christ, “Ecce Homo.”
Cecilia Gimenez’s, 81, attempt to restore the famous painting attracted a lot of attention last year and has drawn more than 40,000 tourists to see the painting in person.
The presence of humans in Cuba hypothetically dates from between 8,000 and 10,000 years ago, according to an archaeological census performed by the Anthropology Institute within the Cuban Science, Technology and Environment Ministry.
The data for the archaeological census has been collected for the past two years and is expected to wrap up in January 2014. It includes research done by experts, historians, archaeologists, institutions, hobbyists and the officials heading it, according to the state-run Prensa Latina news agency.

A report released by UNICEF has found that half of Dominicans under the age of 18 live in poverty; despite the fact Dominican Republic has an economy that has been growing since 1996, according to the Associated Press.
UNICEF also found that those living in poverty don’t have proper housing, access to safe drinking water and are struggling to get enough food.
