The NYFW Fall/Winter 2015 runway was full of big statements, especially when it came to many of the beauty looks. Here are some of our favorites in hair, makeup and nail trends:
Prepare to be transported to eighteenth-century Europe, an era of regal womenswear adorned with embellishments and elaborate embroideries upon unique and original prints.
This season, Rolando Santana introduced a whole new element to his collection with opulent rich and lavish pieces. One of those beauty details caught our eyes: the nails.
Gowns, gowns, gowns!
The Marchesa Fall/Winter 2015 collection was straight up Hollywood glam, and the beauty look reflected the era with modern touches.
“This look was all about a cool modern take on old Hollywood glam," said Revlon Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman.
"Taking inspiration from the New York Great Gatsby era, I wanted to create a more youthful interpretation appearing as though she had been dancing all night."
Inspired by dystopian elements of several iconic films, the The Blonds Fall/Winter 2015 collection featured a clash of distressed and refined elements, making for a fashion story best described as apocalyptic couture.
Complementing each of the designers’ runway looks with a unique over-the-top nail style on every model. The nails, created by the artists of the CND Design Lab team, were so rich with detail that each design told a story.
Beauty at Nanette Lepore’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection channeled the "Posh Rebel" muse.
The look, created by Grace Lee for Maybelline was simple but bold: disorganized lashes and violet lips in Color Sensational Rebel Bloom in "Orchid Ecstasy."
Backstage at Donna Karan, we couldn't help but be struck by the beauty looks on the models.
The show boasted an endless sea of slicked-back hair, nearly-naked eyes, and chic, neutral nails. Lead Maicurist, Deborah Lippmann, shared her insights on the beauty look, and even taught us how to get the look at home.
The Badgley Mischka Fall/Winter 2015 collection is full of ornate, gilded textures and colors of the 1940's glamour and the sultriness of Rita Hayworth. The beauty looks reflected that with makeup heavy on the eyes and minimal everywhere else. For nails, Lead Manicurist, Deborah Lippmann gave us full on sparkle! "Heavy baroque embellishments, a nod to the traditional Spanish matador, lay the foundation for this collection.
For the Fall/Winter 2015 Narciso Rodriguez runway show, the designer sent models down the runway, in narrow-heeled platform shoes and long and lean looks. Earlier this week, Rodriguez shared these stilettos dubbed “The Metal Pin Heel” on social media in a post counting down to the show.
The look at Prabal Gurung for fall/winter 2015 was inspired by a trip the designer took to the Adirondacks. Naturally, the beauty looks mirrored that vibe. The overall look was fresh and simple with a sense of ease, but also a luxurious glamorous edge. We noticed the hair was straight and off the face — not perfect but far from bed-head. "This girl is a little more sophisticated, so her hair looks done but as if she is outdoorsy and would go skiing," explained stylist Paul Hanlon.
For his fall/winter 2015 collection, Angel Sanchez was is inspired by a free-spirited woman. "This woman is bold, adventurous, eclectic and sophisticated at the same time," says Sanchez. The designer's collection started with velvet shoes. "When you wear velvet shows you have a strong personality, you take risks," explains Sanchez.
