Do I have to wait for all of my hair to fall off before I get fitted for a wig?

No, as a matter of fact, you shouldn’t wait that long. As soon as you feel uncomfortable with your hair or appearance, consider a wig. We can cut your existing hair into a short cut, buzz what is left very close or safely shave your head, making your transition a little less drastic and traumatic.

What’s your advice for women sitting in the chair having their hair shaved off?

Don’t face the mirror during this fragile time. Wait for your stylist to do it all at once. We always give our clients much-needed reassurance that everything will be okay. We always maintain a positive attitude and show that we support transitions and empathize with our clients. We also have private rooms for anyone who requests one.

What should you keep in mind when you’re wig shopping?

What are the differences besides price in purchasing a real human hair wig and non?

Real human hair wigs are anywhere from $2,000 and up, while a good synthetic wig begins at a few hundred dollars and up.

Do you suggest going for a look similar to the one you had or experimenting more?

It is up to the client and which direction she wants to go. Some women prefer to keep their appearance the same, while others may see an opportunity to try a new, shorter look that helps them transition—especially once their hair grows back.

What are your tips for women who hate wearing their wig because it feels too hot?

Getting a wig with a nylon cap underneath, or a wig cap, keeps the scalp cool.

What are some places you trust to buy wigs online?

Don’t buy a wig from an internet website. Buy it somewhere you can go in and have a consultation, and try on wigs. At Angelo David Salon, we offer a wide variety of options from wigs you can wear the same day to fully customized wigs. Going to a salon that specializes will ensure that your investment is not wasted and that you get the best wig for you.
