At first glance, Catherine Martinez may seem like another beauty blogger creating alluring content for her followers, but this Latina is producing tutorials in the most inspiring and impressive way.
After a unique encounter with a deaf classmate, the 24-year-old beauty vowed to create videos using sign language for her hearing-impaired viewers.
While filming endless amount of videos on highlighting tips, liner tricks, and more, the Venezuelan and Colombian influencer took her peer's request as a call to action. As a recent graduate from the NYU Communicative Sciences and Disorders program, Martinez admitted she was passionate about the idea.
During an interview with Pizzabottle, Cat shared "Sign language, which happens to be in the [Communicative Sciences and Disorders] program, is something that I fell in love with and was eager to learn. Many of my peers who were either deaf or hard of hearing always complimented my makeup and were interested in the beauty industry. However, they did not feel like they fit in since there isn't much deaf culture beauty resources or involvement.. . . It just struck me one day when a few peers in my class asked me to translate what a blogger they were watching was saying since the tutorial was auditory and had no other mode of communication. I recently started my channel to change that."

She decided to move forward with a call to action and by taking a course on sign language to create content for those hard of hearing or deaf. Shortly after, Martinez realized how overlooked the hearing-impaired community is and partnered up with American Sign Language (ASL) to create closed caption videos.
