Dolores dice...Communication is Key
Dear Dolores:
I’ve been with my boyfriend for a couple of months now. Our sex life is great except for one thing: I HATE the way he talks during intercourse! It really turns me off to the point where I don’t even want to have sex anymore. He’s asked me what’s wrong, but I just brush it off because I don’t know how to tell him without him being unnatural while having sex or making him feel really insecure.
—Iffy in Indiana
Dear Iffy:
I’m a little confused here. How on earth can your sex life be great if you’re not enjoying it? Sex is not about one partner having all the fun—that’s why it’s called intercourse. You’re supposed to interact and communicate. If you are so concerned about bruising his ego or crimping his style, instead of telling him what turns you off, let him know what turns you on! If his bed talk is cringe-inducing, he has to meet you at least halfway. I'm sure once he realizes how much better the action gets when both parties are completely comfortable, he'll be revelling in the sounds of silence as well!
