Cautiva
If you’re like my dad, then you’ve read or are in the process of reading every book written about the FARC kidnappings that happened in the Colombian jungle between 2002 and 2008. These include Ingrid Betancourt’s Letters to My Mother and Out of Captivity: Surviving 1,967 Days in the Colombian Jungle, by Marc Gonsalves, Keith Stansell, and Tom Howes with Gary Brozek. The latest title keeping him up at night is Cautiva (Atria), by Clara Rojas, who gave birth to her son Emanuel at the hands of a “nurse” who only had experience tending to animals. Rojas, who was once Betancourt’s campaign manager, was separated from Emanuel when he was barely 8 months, but was reunited with him three years later.
An English-language version is coming soon courtesy of Latina contributor Adriana V. Lopez.

That sounds like some strange and interesting stuff. I'll have to get a hold of it.
