Welcome back to Losing It, and apt title considering how hectic things have been around here lately. The entire NYC Latina office just moved into a new space, and things are just starting to settle down. I’m now back to fighting the battle I’m always fighting—my weight. That battle is about to get more intense as I prepare for my trip to visit family in Colombia on Dec. 20. You know how family is, they ask about your weight before they ask how you’re doing. Well, that’s how my family operates, at least. During my last visit in March, I pretty much ignored their comments about my weight. Instead, I held my head up high and knew that I would eventually get to my ideal size at my own pace.
Here is my goal before my next trip to Colombia—and I need as much help and cheering on as possible. I want to lose 10 pounds in 10 weeks. Does that sound realistic? Ideally, I’ll lose a pound a week. I won’t be able to wear a two-piece bathing suit yet, but I definitely will see a change in the clothes that I’ll be wearing. I will keep you all posted on how I am doing and how much I’ve lost. Please feel free to give me any suggestions you may have, except the obvious (working out more, eating less…). I want to know if there are any weight-loss secrets that I should know. Let’s get ready to rumble!

Quiubo Nicole, I'm also Colombiana so I know exactly how you feel. I just starting getting back into running after 12 yrs & it's hard. My suggestion is yes workout more but no on the eating less. Proper portions will help you but you should be eating - healthier - 5 to 6 times a day. Mini meals & healthy snacks. Drink at least a liter of water a day. Cut down on coffee & caffeine. You know how much Colombianos love our coffee. Coffee is a diaretic. It will dehydrate you and what you think your urinating is fat it's actually your body's much needed water.
Bueno good luck to you. Buena suerte parcera!
Besos!
