Dimelo: "How Do I Get Him to Notice Me?"

ThinkStock

Dear Pauline,

I am person that when they notice a person they are interested in, they speak their mind. The problem is, there's this really cute guy I like, but he's so oblivious to the topic of love. About a few months ago, I went up to the guy I liked him, but he just looked at me like I was speaking in German!

My question is: how do I get the guy open his eyes to the topic of love and amor. What I was thinking is that I should give him a CD filled with a 'notice me' playlist, but I'm so confused! Please help!

Sincerely,

Stressed and Boy Obsessed

Dear Boy Obsessed,

I feel like the best way to answer this question is to start by asking you what your favorite kind of ice cream is, porque I have a feeling we are going to be needing it before we're done here. I'm a huge fan of chocolate — and cookies...dipped in chocolate... but this is totally your party here. I'm just here to share the solicited advice about the boy, my friend. The short answer, mijita, is your boy-crush may not be as oblivious as you are giving him credit for because it's Oh so Much Easier to convince ourselves that we aren't being rejected because we haven't even been noticed yet. We've all been there at least once. Or maybe 386 times, give or take a few tear-stained high school journal pages. I'm even willing to bet we've all been in Captain Not-so-Oblivious' botas and went with the path of least resistance when trying to get out of hurting the feelings of the sweet boy or girl with the mixed tape they made us.

Here's my guess: He knows you like him. But he doesn't feel the same way. So now what? Let him go, get the ice cream, and I'll grab the spoons. Tomorrow is another day, mija. Today? Just let it all happen as it's supposed to and, more importantly, don't you dare let go of that confidence of yours. -- Confidence always comes first.

Sincerely,

-- p
