And then there's the Bebe Lanugo's "Soy Americano y Latino de Corazon" campaign. The company, which features a line of products such as T-shirts and kid-safe cups celebrating the Latino culture for us and our children, has set out to encourage us to stand up and have our voices heard. Bebe Lanugo got tired of all the racist flack Latino singers faced for singing The National Anthem and brilliantly decided that the best response was to just...keep...cantando.
But I'm not done. I want to know who inspires you in the Latino community and why. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with details and you just might see a mention for your Latino hero in a future column. Until then, Happy Almost Hispanic Heritage Month.
