One of my favorite red carpets of the year takes place during the ALMA Awards every year. The glitz and glamour that I witnessed first hand at the Pasadena Convention Center last night is enough to make this Rewind both a pleasure and stressful to write.
Many of the trends we saw on the Emmy carpet made their way into the Alma Awards including long, body hugging gowns, buns -- both low and high, and splashes of color.
Who were the stand out fashion forward Latinas last night?
White Is The New Black
I'm so glad the “no white after Labor Day” rule has said Adios! It was one of the most popular colors on the red carpet and I totally approve. Edy Ganem in a Jexika gown; Courtney Mazza-Lopez in Hailey by Adrianna Papell gown, Sarah clutch by Tess Handbags, earrings by Vahan jewelry and necklace, cuff and ring by Charles Albert; Gina Rodriguez, Justina Machado in Aidan Mattox and Christina Milian in Sen Couture are the perfect examples that you don’t have to limit yourself to wearing white only on your wedding day. These women, whose skin tones represent every Latina, prove that this shade can work on everyone.
Winner: Edy Ganem’s mermaid style gown, which was cinched at the waist by a silver belt, hugged her curves in all the right places. I don’t think the photos even do it justice—it was breathtakingly beautiful in person.
