The Best Memes of 2013

We cried. We laughed. We winced. And we kept scrolling down to see more.

From Hot Dog Legs to “Starbucks Drake Hands”, these are the best, funniest, and most ridiculous memes of 2013:

1. Hot Dog Legs

Hot Dog Legs:

Oof. You know the friend: the one who always finds herself on elaborate last minute vacations to resorts in Punta Canta, and has the audacity to post pictures of her bare legs soaking up the sun as she tans poolside? So annoying...especially when you’re stuck inside your freezing cold NYC apartment in the middle of February. Hence, a hilarious meme was born: hot dog legs. Internet trollers began posing hot dogs by the pool, the ocean, etc....and lo, and behold: they look exactly the same.

2. Sport Balls Replaced With Cats

Sports Balls Replaced With Cats:

This purrrfect meme switched out soccer balls, basketballs, footballs, and more....with pictures of cats. This picture of Victor Valdés, the goalkeeper for FC Barcelona, has us meowing with laughter. Check out the Tumblr for more hilarious pics of Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, Rafael Nadal and more playing a game of catch.

3. Doge

Doge:

We still aren’t fluent in the language of “Doge”, but what we do understand is priceless. The meme consists of a picture of a Shiba Inu dog with text written in Comic Sans. The text is deliberately (and hilariously) chopped and broken. Our favorite is Doge's TIME cover -- a spoof on the Person of the Year cover that featured Argentinian Pope Francis!

4. "Wrecking Ball"

Wrecking Ball:

We’ve all seen her twerk. We’ve all seen her grind on Robin Thicke. But, have you seen Miley Cyrus seductively lick a delicious Taco Bell burrito? Thanks to this meme, which brutally parodied Cyrus’s ridiculous “Wrecking Ball” video, now you have. You're welcome.

5. #StarbucksDrakeHands

#StarbucksDrakeHands

Lesson learned: Never send selfies to strangers. #StarbucksDrakeHands was invented when a girl was approached by a guy standing in line with her at Starbucks. He asked for her number. She gave it to him. He subsequently sent her a priceless video selfie of himself, staring into the camera, touching his face, while Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” played. The video made it onto Instagram...and became a huge sensation. Even Snooki made her own rendition of the meme.
