World renowned luxury fashion designer Oscar de la Renta delivered a stunning collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week deserving of a standing ovation. The Dominican fashion genius showed his Spring/Summer 2013 creations to a packed house including front row guests Rachel Zoe, Anna Wintour, and twins Jenna and Barbara Bush.
Departing from the safety of basic colors, de la Renta made a bold statement with bright pinks, blues, yellows, reds and oranges. Opening the show with punk-rock princess models Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne, Oscar set the tone for this edgy collection.
The first look, inspired perhaps by Angelina Jolie's open legged pose earlier this year at the Oscars, consisted of an ivory pencil skirt slit high to the upper thigh, paired with a navy blue blazer, red leather top, ivory rose statement necklace and oversized envelope clutch.
The sophisticated yet chic compilation features hot pink party dresses, taffeta, tiered ruffles, sequins, and lace galore! One of the standout classic pieces is a black strapless evening gown with silver sequin embellishments and a hi-lo hemline.
We even saw shorts in this array of beautifully tailored pieces. Our favorite is a high waisted brushed silk short in orange sherbet paired with a pink and sherbet colored rose appliqué top. Can we say effortlessly chic?
