The only thing cooler than morning photos of Ricky Martin's babies? Gabriel García Márquez is confirmed to be writing a new novel, his first since 2004's Memorias de Mis Putas Tristes. The author's literary colleague, Plinio Apuleyo Mendoza, tells the The Guardian that his friend has already finished multiple versions of the novel, which will be "a love story," and that he is now torn between them.

"He has four versions of it," reveals Apuleyo. "He told me that he was now trying to get the best from each of them." While García Márquez's literary agent says there is no publication date set for the new work, just the fact that he's making serious progress with it is enough to get us excited!

Now 82 years old, García Márquez went on a self-described "sabbatical" after his last novel and has since told reporters that "2005 was the first year in my life that I didn't write a line." So how did he spend all that time? Reading, says his loose-lipped friend. Wow...our head is spinning with the possibilities of what a reading list by Gabriel Garcia Marquez might contain.

volunteer abroad - Usually I love to read blogs and comments which are related to any writer, book published or a review of a book....I believe reading a book is a very good habit which all should develop...it not only spends your time, it also helps you in improving your writing and speaking skills.

I liked La Hojarasca so much. Still have to read Cien años de soledad though!
Cien años de soledad marco la pauta en cuanto a literatura se trata. Despues de esa me encanto "Cronicas de una muerte anunciada", y "El Coronel no tiene quien le escriba". Es un verdadero genio Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
