Eva Longoria has definitely gone from Hollywood star to political activist.
According to NBC Latino, the former Desperate Housewives actress made her way to New Jersey on Monday to show her support at a campaign rally for Newark Mayor Cory Booker. Longoria is endorsing Booker as he works towards a seat in the U.S. Senate.
Before the event the Mexican American tweeted, “Please help me support #CoryBooker and spread the word 2 vote in the NJ Democratic Primary, Tuesday, Aug. 13. Thank you.”
In 2012, Longoria told the Associated Press, "I’m doing my civic engagement by mobilizing voters and making sure they’re educated on the issues and operating from the belief that if you want to change something in this country you have the power to do that as a citizen."
The Devious Maids producer has provided support to other politicians in the past, including serving as a co-chair of President Obama’s re-election campaign and supporting school board candidate Kate Anderson for a seat in the Los Angeles School District.
"Those are probably the things I'm most proud of," Longoria said.
