EXCLUSIVE SNEAK PEEK: Jencarlos Canela on MTV Tr3s 'Rock Dinner'

Cuban singer Jencarlos Canela is making a special appearance tonight on MTV Tr3s’ Rock Dinner—a show that gives fans the opportunity to cook and spend an evening with one of their favorite celebs.

We spoke to the Cuban heartthrob earlier this week to get all of the delicious deets on his guest appearance (pun intended)—including what he thought of the meal prepared for him by his fans!

Tell us about your episode of Rock Dinner!

It was a great experience because it’s not everyday that you have the time to sit down with a couple of fans and get to know them. We got to talk about their dreams and their goals and they got to tell me the stuff that I do that they like and they enjoy. One of them was really talented—she got up and started doing a monologue and she was cute and talented. Even though they're young women—they’ve got their heads on straight.

What did your fans cook for you?

They made Risotto—well {Laughs}, they tried to make Risotto. They also made a nice salad and fish, and they made dessert. It wasn’t’ that bad—it looked worse than it tasted {Laughs}. They gave it their all—that’s the important thing.

Were your fans nervous when they met you?

In the beginning they were a little nervous and weren’t talking much. We gave them this really difficult menu. We told them to scare them that if something was missing, we were going to walk out and leave, so they were kind of worried about that. But within 10 minutes of conversation, they started loosening up and it was cool.

Why did you decide to do the show Rock Dinner?

Because I love food and I love fans—so it was a no brainer! Not many shows bring fans and artists together and Rock Dinner is one of the few shows that does it. Every opportunity I get to get closer to one of my fans—and get to know them and talk to them—I’m always going to take that opportunity with arms wide open and make it a priority.
