It was only a matter of time before #fiercelylatina Gina Rodriguez, a.k.a our favorite TV virgin, was asked to play the most chaste woman ever: the Virgin Mary. But this time, Rodriguez takes her talents to the big screen in the animated movie The Star, directed by Timothy Reckart

And while you may think you know the Biblical story of Mary and Joseph, you haven’t heard this version (written by Carlos Kotkin and Simon Moore), which centers on a donkey named Bo (played by Steven Yeun) and his animal friends who become the unsung heroes of the first Christmas. The casting folks outdid themselves by collecting a who's who of Hollywood hittas. Funnyman Gabriel Iglesias as Rufus the dog, Auntie Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry as camels Deborah and Cyrus, respectively, and Mariah Carey as the hen round out the cast.

But what would a movie soundtrack be without some golden vocals courtesy of MC? Mimi lends her pipes to the lead song “The Star.” And if you guessed it was a power ballad, then you and "Mariah go back like babies with pacifiers."

Watch the trailer for Rodriquez's The Star below. The film is slated to hit theaters November 17.
