Gina Rodriguez is heading to Netflix for a big-time animated reboot.
The Jane the Virgin star is set to play Carmen Sandiego in a reboot of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? Netflix has not yet confirmed the announcement, but Rodriguez took to Twitter to share the good news with her #warriors.
"I already have the fedora and coat," Rodriguez responded to a fan inquiry about the rumor. "So it's definitely true." The actress has been tweeting similar responses, including a straight forward "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" as the cherry on top.
The series will tell the story of the adventurous, globetrotting Carmen, who looks to her "gumshoes" for help with identifying the locations of her henchmen. The concept was originally intended to help kids with learning geography. The 20-episode series will reportedly be a mix of entertainment and education, just as the original and the PBS remake were.
No word yet on when Rodriguez will begin production on the animated series. She is, however, also set to voice Mary in The Star and Una in Ferdinand, both out later this year. Work those vocal chords, lady!
