UPDATE: Mexico's Secretary of Communications and Transports, Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, has confirmed that the plane wreckage carrying regional Mexican singer Jenni Rivera and six others, including two pilots and crewmembers, has no survivors, reports Univision.
Parts of the jet were found in Nuevo Leon state. As we reported earlier, the plane went missing while flying from Monterey to Toluca, which is located near Mexico City. The pilot tragically lost contact with air traffic controllers a few minutes after departure. It's still unclear what caused the crash.
Jenni was expected to fly to Toluca today to tape an episode of Mexico's La Voz. Her family has still not made statements.
This is truly a tragedy. We are deeply saddened about the news. Our thoughts go out to Jenni's family and friends.
