Just when we thought Jennifer Lopez’s plate was piled overwhelmingly high with projects, the Puerto Rican superstar surprises us with a new one. According to Deadline, Fox has purchased a family dramedy project by the 41-year-old singer/actress and Cuban American Silvio Horta, who developed the ABC hit show Ugly Betty.
The pair will serve as executive producers on the show, which was inspired by an idea of Kevin Reilly, Fox’s entertainment president. Deadline reports that the dramedy is about a Latino family (yes!) and centers on three sisters. We wonder if it has anything to do with J.Lo's own family (she has two sisters)? Horta is slated to write the project and share executive producer duties with Lopez and her producing partner, Simon Fields, from Nuyorican Productions (Lopez’s production company).
Lopez has a lot going on right now; her new Kohl’s line, which she got involved in with her soon-to-be ex-husband Marc Anthony, is in stores now. The actress is also returning to American Idol as a judge, a job she said had her worn out by the end of last season. Lopez also recently partnered with Italian automaker Fiat and will appear in commercials for the Fiat 500 Cabrio later this year. That’s a lot to take on, we know, and we are sure there’s more to report on once it gets out!
