From stockbroker to factory worker, these 10 Latinos have all switched careers -- and dreams -- in order to pursue a life in Hollywood: 

1. Career Changes: Laz Alonso

Laz Alonso: Before pursuing acting, cubano Laz Alonso embarked on a successful career as an investment banker with Merrill Lynch on Wall Street. Eventually the Latino hottie left the stressful financial world to start his own marketing business. When he began taking acting classes in his spare time, his Hollywood career took off! 

2. Career Changes: Adam Rodriguez

Adam Rodriguez:

From stock broker to....stripper? Before Adam Rodriguez blessed us all with his role in Magic Mike, the actor worked in finance. “I was working as a stock broker,” he said of his former career, “And I had a moment where I was sitting in the office when I realized that I could spend the next 20 years in an office working away. No one in that office there looked happy, and I knew there something I didn’t really want to do.”

The hunky telenovela star didn’t always imagine a career as an actor! William Levy dreamed of playing Major League Baseball, even earning a baseball scholarship to St. Thomas University in Miami.

The beautiful singer wasn’t always a career musician! In 1994, the colombiana tried her luck at acting, joining the cast of primetime soap El Oasis. “I was a very bad actress,” she told the London Observer, “But I had a lot of fun.”

The stunning actress originally chose a different career path...ballet! The Puerto Rican and Dominican star quit ballet in order to pursue a career in acting. “I had to quit ballet because it felt like a part of me was dying inside. It takes a lot of courage to face up to things you can’t do because we feed ourselves so much denial,” she said, “In dance, you use every part of your body except your voice. I wanted to start acting because I wanted to use my voice.”

We can’t deny that Fergie has a killer voice...but she didn’t always use it for singing! Fergie used to be a voiceover artists for the Peanuts cartoon. The Black Eyed Peas front-woman voiced parts for Sally and Lucy.

George Lopez: 

The George Lopez Show was more fact than fiction! Comedian George Lopez based parts of the show on his own life. In fact, the Mexican-American worked in two different airline parts factories in Los Angeles before receiving his big break.

Before Eva Longoria was a desperate housewife, she was an ambitious Wendy’s manager! The Texan worked at the fast-food chain to pay for her quinceañera, and by the time she was 18, she was the manager! “I make a good Frosty,” she said.

Cameron Diaz got her start as a model, working with companies such as Calvin Klein and Levi’s. The young cubana beauty hadn’t given acting a second thought, until her agent recommended she audition for The Mask.
