#1: Katy Perry recreated the BEST red carpet look of all time.
Katy Perry and Riff Raff paid homage to Britney Spears' and Justin Timberlake's iconic matching denim outfits from the American Music Awards in 2001. Versace created the tight, studded patchwork dress specifically for the occasion. "This is how we do the remix," Perry joked on the red carpet.
#2: Jennifer Lopez shimmered on the red carpet.

#4: The ladies OWNED the show.
Sunday night was ladies night. Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Jessie J killed it when they took the stage for the first performance. Lorde became the first woman to take home the Moonman for "Best Rock Video," and Miley Cyrus won the top award of the night for "Video of the Year." Plus, performances by Taylor Swift, Zedd and Beyonce pretty much proved that girls run the world.

Just weeks after Naya Rivera's surprise wedding to Ryan Dorsey, her ex-fiancé Big Sean attended the VMAs to support his rumored new love, Ariana Grande. The two, who collaborated on "Problem" together, have reportedly been dating for several weeks, and pretty much confirmed the romance last night when they were spotted holding hands backstage.
#6: Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart shared a sweet moment.
Months after their breakup, Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart sat directly behind each other at the VMAs. They even shared a sweet moment together, when Smart offered Lopez a handful of Skittles during the awards. We're all wondering: are they or aren't they back together?
#7: Common led a Moment of Silence for Ferguson.
Common, an infamously outspoken, political voice in the hip-hop industry, took to the stage to hold a moment of silence of Michael Brown and the violence and unrest in Ferguson, Missouri.
#8: Fifth Harmony won the Artist To Watch award!
The ladies of Fifth Harmony proved they have the most dedicated fans in the universe when they took home the Artist To Watch Moonman, the only award of the night that was voted upon by viewers! Not to mention, the chicas rocked the red carpet with a pre-show performance of their hit single "BO$$."
#9: Miley Cyrus used her acceptance speech to spread awareness about homeless youth.
When Miley Cyrus won the top honor of the night for "Video of the Year," she sent a young man named Jesse in her place. "I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving and lost and scared for their lives. I know, because I am one of those people," he said.
Jesse directed viewers to Cyrus's Facebook page, which featured information about My Friend's Place, a charity that supports homeless youth in the United States.
#10: Beyoncé silenced the haters.
In addition to giving a flawless performance, Beyoncé silenced divorce rumors when she accepted the Vanguard Award with Jay-Z and Blue Ivy by her side. Well played, Queen Bey.
