It was reported earlier today that a Mexican version of the CW's hit show Gossip Girl, is headed for television.
According to CNN, Mexican producer Pedro Torres released details this week about his plans for Gossip Girl Acapulco, a revamped Spanish-language version of the U.S. show, which ended its six-season run on the CW Network late last year.
Given this news, we asked the ultimate gossip-expert Perez Hilton his thoughts on the new show. "I find it odd and sad that it seems like all of the main characters are white Mexicans," Perez said, noting that the characters in the show's official poster have similar looks to that of their U.S. counterparts. "What about celebrating DIVERSITY???" he added via email.
Gossip Girl Acapulco is expected to hit the airwaves later in the year. The show is set to start filming next week.
Do you agree with Perez's comments? Should the show feature more diversity? Let us know in the comments!
