Latinos don’t receive many top Hollywood honors, and Rita Moreno has an idea why.
According to Fox News Latino, the 81-year-old legendary actress said it’s because Latino actors are not cast in the kind of roles that gather big nominations and awards.
Moreno, who has an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony under belt, shared these thoughts during a recent panel appearance with the Television Critics Association. The Puerto Rican singer/actress is featured in Latino Americans, a documentary that PBS has billed as television’s first comprehensive look at Latino American history.
Benjamin Bratt narrates the three-part documentary, which is set to air in September. The 49-year-old actor, whose mother is Peruvian, added his two cents on Latinos and their place in American society.
