On Thursday, Demi Lovato celebrated another impressive milestone—her six-year of sobriety. The "Tell Me You Love Me" singer, who has opened up about her past struggle with drugs and alcohol, took to Twitter to celebrate her accomplishment.
"Just officially turned 6 years sober. So grateful for another year of joy, health and happiness. It IS possible," the former Disney Channel star wrote.

While Lovato has been alcohol and drug-free for quite some time, she recently opened about almost relapsing at the Met Gala 2016, thanks to "a bitch" celeb. While at the star-studded event, the 25-year-old recalled having a horrible time because "this one celebrity was a complete bitch and was miserable to be around. It was very cliquey."
This picture pretty much summed up my first and probably last met #cool #sofuckingawkward #notforme #sweatpants #forensicfiles #whatsgood p.s. some of y'all need to learn how to take a joke.. I'm obviously laughing at the fact that 1. I look incredibly awkward and 2. That the shade being thrown in this picture actually gives me life
The Mexican-American star told Billboard, this "terrible experience" she was tempted to drink. "I remember being so uncomfortable that I wanted to drink,” she told the news outlet. According to the brunette beauty, she left the gala and attended an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting right away.
"I changed my clothes, but I still had my diamonds on—millions of dollars of diamonds on in an AA meeting,” she said, adding, “And I related more to the homeless people in that meeting who struggled with the same struggles that I deal with than the people at the Met Gala—fake and sucking the fashion industry’s d—."
Back in October, the star opened up about her darker times during her rise to fame in her Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated documentary. The powerhouse singer revealed she was taking drugs while promoting her sobriety in 2012. "I wasn't working my programme, I wasn't ready to get sober. I was sneaking [cocaine] on planes, I was sneaking it in bathrooms, sneaking it throughout the night … I went on a bender of like, two months where I was using daily," Lovato shared.
Though Lovato's sobriety journey has been a bumpy ride, we are happy to have witnessed her amazing road to recovery. Congrats, Demi!
