If you tuned in to the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, chances are you watched Fergie's National Anthem performance. The Black Eyed Peas singer received lots of backlash after turning "The Star-Spangled Banner" into a jazz-inspired tune.
Despite all the criticisms, the 42-year-old stood by her artistry saying, "I've always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem, and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA."
She added, “I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
Following her performance, people rushed to Twitter to talk about Fergie's unique rendition—including Khloe Kardashian who tweeted, "This All Star opening is confusing me. WTF is going on? Anyone?"

After drawing her own share of criticism for her 2016 New Year’s Eve performance, Mariah Carey had a few words of advice for the singer. "Darling, nobody needs to listen to [the haters],” Carey told TMZ.
