Jason Castro: "I've Never Been Stoned"

Sara De Boer / Retna Ltd.

Remember the dreadlocked Colombian cutie from season seven of American Idol, Jason Castro? Yeah, we do too. We've kind of harbored a secret crush on the laid-back, guitar strumming musician for a while now. The hippy vibe, the electric blue eyes, the devil-may-care attitude—plus, he gave us an awesome interview a while back even though he's notoriously press averse.

So we were kind of shocked to see this video on TMZ, where the cameraman flat out asks Castro about his recreational drug habits and Jason responds, "No man, I've never been stoned in my life." Even though this revelation may make his image a little, um, misleading, we can't say it made us give up our secret crush. He's a cute, talented musician and also a role model? Sigh.

Now were you shocked they would ask such a bold thing or were you shocked that he said no? That is a horrible thing to assume... if a person has dreads, they automatically smoke pot? That's bad dude. Sorry actually you're a girl, hmm... the article suddenly makes sense to me now.
This revelation doesn't make his life misleading at all. You sound like you would be more impressed if he did smoke pot.... and then post a goofy picture with the title "I've never been stoned." He's a professed christian and has said he has never smoked pot. I know a lot of kids from church that are super goofy & don't do drugs or drink. There is such a thing as being happy, you know. Also.. I know from experience... I have one son who used to smoke pot, quite a bit. And I can tell you, from my experience, that Jason does not smoke pot. He's just a sweet, funny kid with a cool sense of fashion... ok?
Jason is a christian. Why don't you report on that? He has a really strong belief in God. Please see his testimony on http://iamsecond.com/. Even if you don't believe in God, you will be impressed by how sincere Jason is. Don't we have enough Britney Spears, etc... why can't the world appreciate the fact that someone stands for something other than getting high? Why would it bother you that he's a role model?
