Mariah Carey to Star in London Play Next Spring
Mariah Carey to Star in London Play Next Spring
Sounds like we’re going to have to start accepting singer Mariah Carey as a genuine thespian. The star, who won positive reviews for her role as a social worker in the Sundance favorite Precious (formerly know as Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire), is headed to London’s West End to perform in a stage play. There aren’t a lot of details yet about the role Carey will play, but The Mirror reports she has met with a top theater producer who has now offered her a £15,000-a-week contract. She is expected to make her theater debut next spring.
A source tells The Mirror, "[Carey] was hugely flattered to have been asked and is determined to nail the part. ... She is pretty confident in her own abilities.” The source added, "Although there's been talk of musicals, Mariah has always wanted to star in a play, so this really is a dream come true."
