Imagine the remix to #TBT but for a good cause, as in Hurricane Relief. Big Mouth actor Nick Kroll and Steven Colbert started #PuberMe to raise money for Hurricane Relief. Actually, Kroll had launched the hashtag to promote Netflix’s Big Mouth, the cartoon series about characters dealing with the challenges of puberty, and encourage celebs to show their best yesteryear looks. That means acne. Feathered hair. Hammer pants. Acid washed jeans. All of it. And we're here for it.
After Kroll appeared on Colbert’s show, the popular host took Kroll's promo idea a step further and announced this his AmeriCone Dream Foundation would partner with Kroll to promote the hashtag—and raise money for Hurricane Relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
Colbert said: "I'm happy to announce that for every celebrity—and I get to determine who's a celebrity—who posts their awkward teenage photos with the hashtags #PuberMe and #PuertoRicoRelief, the AmeriCone Dream Foundation will donate $1,000 to One America Appeal."
One America Appeal is the fund set up by former presidents Obama, Clinton, Carter and both Bushes to raise much-needed funds for hurricane relief. Kroll vowed to match the fundraising efforts.
Celebs, including America Ferrera, Kathy Griffin, Ryan Seacrest, and Mario Cantone have happily tweeted and ’grammed their #PuberMe photos, and apparently, Lin-Manuel Miranda has been waiting for this call all of his life.
