NFL player and pro receiver, Chad Ochocinco, was axed from his contract with the Miami Dolphins after being arrested and charged with domestic battery early Saturday. The Dancing With The Stars athelete allegedly head-butted his wife, Evelyn Lozada, during a fight in front of their residence. Chad was later released on $2,500 bond this Sunday.
Just over a month ago, the Basketball Wives star and the 34-year-old football star were celebrating their romantic wedding in St. Martin, which was all filmed for their VH1 spin-off, Ev and Ocho. The network has officially confirmed that the show has been pulled and released the following statement: "Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series 'Ev and Ocho' from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it."
According to reports, Evelyn approached the NFL player about a receipt she found for a box of condoms while bringing groceries into their home. The author of the Inner Circle and her husband began fighting about their marriage troubles when Ochocinco hit her head with his, causing a 3-inch gash on her forehead. In turn, she ran to the neighbor’s house and called the police. When police interrogated him, Chad confessed to the argument, but claimed that it was Evelyn who head-butted him, reports The Chicago Sun Times.
During an exclusive interview with Latina, Evelyn spoke about her life lessons, "I've been through a lot in life, relationships, and friendships. For me it's normal, but most people probably wouldn't be able to live this life. I wouldn't trade it for anything though."
Even before his arrest, Chad was suffering from a rocky career. He was released by the Patriots last year and wasn’t performing at his best during the Dolphin’s first exhibition game of the season.
The NFL star faces one year in prison and a $1,000 fine if found guilty.
What lies for the future of Chad and Evelyn’s marriage? What are your thoughts on the allegations?
