Plane Carrying Jenni Rivera Goes Missing

Our thoughts are with Jenni Rivera's family and friends, as Mexican authorities have confirmed that a small plane carrying the singer has gone missing. The plane has been missing since early Sunday after taking off from the city of Monterrey, reports the Associated Press.

Jorge Domene, spokesperson for the Nuevo Leon state government, told Milenio television on Sunday that the plane left Monterrey around 3:30 a.m. local time after Jenni performed in a concert there. Authorities lost contact with the plane 10 minutes later. It was scheduled to arrive in Toluca, outside Mexico City, an hour later.

Domene confirmed that a search for the plane was launched, with helicopters form the local civilian protection agency flying over the state. Seven people, including Jenni and crew, are believed to be aboard the U.S.-registered Learjet 25.
