On Friday, news made the rounds stating that Leonardo DiCaprio would be filling Al Pacino's shoes in the remake of the 1983 hit crime drama, Scarface. DiCaprio was reportedly set to play Montana, alongside Sofia Vergara as Montana's sister. Now, new reports show that the movie will actually star Diego Luna.

According to Variety, Antoine Fuqua was set to direct the film, but has since departed the project due to scheduling conflicts. This may explain the change in casting news, though word on the film's new director has yet to be confirmed. Pablo Larrían was originally said to direct the film, and revealed details on the movie's setting. "This remake is not set in the 1980’s but in the mid 2000’s and obviously there are going to be differences because of the era. I think both fans of Scarface and those who are new to the story will love what we are doing here,” he explained.

If Luna stars in the upcoming film, he'll be telling the story of a Mexican immigrant living in L.A. It will reportedly be a "reimagining" of the core immigrant story from both the 1932 and 1983 films.

Hopefully, Luna will be able to show off his Spanish skills, being that audiences responded so well to it at this year's Golden Globes. Last year, he made history as Rogue One's Captain Cassain Andor, which he said was a dream role. Chances are, the iconic Tony Montana would also be a bucket list character for the 37-year-old star.
