5 Things You Should Know About 'The Host'

What if everything you love was taken from you in the blink of an eye? The Host is the next epic love story from the creator of the Twilight Saga, bestselling author, Stephenie Meyer.

Spoiler Alert: Meyer is currently writing a follow up to the highly anticipated new film.

1. Stephanie Meyer has a Latino Connection in The Host:

In the book, The Host, Melanie is described as having hazel eyes, dark hair and tan skin. Today we spoke with author, Stephenie Meyer, and she confirmed our suspicions that the protagonist is Latina. “The character for me in the book is actually half Latina, it’s not something that ever gets described. It’s how I always pictured her. Melanie’s mother, Linda, is from Arizona and is Latina,” divulges Meyer.

2. Diane Kruger admits to being a sci-fi geek and attending Comic-Con as Darth Vader:

Diane Kruger plays the Seeker, a Soul who tracks humans and inserts other Souls into their bodies. Played by Diane Kruger, this particular Seeker is a bit of an anomaly, tormented and driven, she becomes obsessed with unlocking Melanie’s memories and discovering the whereabouts of her surviving loved ones.

3. One actress plays two characters in the movie:

Young Irish actress Saoirse Ronan plays the title role, well really roles: Melanie-Wanda, a character with one body and two voices.

4. This isn't another teen movie:

We asked author Stephenie Meyer if she anticipates another Twilight phenomena. While Meyer Spoiler is working on a sequel to the book, she insists that The Host is not just for teens.

5. One movie, two leading men!:

Whether they reach Twilight levels of fandom or not it’s certain that Jake Abel and Max Irons will win the hearts of many.
