Hot on the heels of rumors of a remake of the 1968 sci-fi cult classic Barbarella comes chatter about which Hollywood starlet may be tapped to reprise Jane Fonda's classic role. A movie insider confirms, “The script is underway and John Carpenter is set to direct so now it's all about finding the new Barbarella.”

Our girl Jessica Alba is reportedly being considered for the role as the space-age superheroine, as are Sienna Miller and Katherine Heigl. But the half-Mexican actress may have a leg-up on the other two blonde bombshells when it comes to filling Jane Fonda’s silver boots. Alba has played a number of fierce female characters and is no stranger to the action and sci-fi genres. From Max Guevera (Dark Angel) to Sue Storm (Fantastic Four), this girl can definitely kick some serious butt.

The insider went on to say, “Sienna, Jessica and Katherine are probably top of the list but others have not been ruled out. Whoever gets it is going to have to look super-hot in not very much clothing.” Regardless of what you think about her acting abilities, one thing is for sure, Alba would definitely look hot in Barbarella's trademark outfits.
