8 Artists We Wish Would Release A Surprise Album

The morning of Friday, Dec. 13, Beyonce shocked fans across the world when she released a new album on iTunes...with absolutely no warning! The album release, one of the best kept secrets in music history, was a complete surprise to listeners who rushed to purchase BEYONCÉ after the diva announced its release.

From Shakira to Enrique Iglesias, here are 8 Latino artists who should take a cue from Queen Bey and release a surprise album:

1. Shakira

Shakira:

The Colombiana has reportedly been working on a new album since 2012. She announced that the first single off the new album would be released in Dec. 2013...but then moved the date back to January! We would love it if the album and the song were to be released today as a surprise to her fans!

2. Prince Royce

Prince Royce:

Prince Royce told us in October that he had an English-language album planned for 2014. We’d love it if the bachata crooner moved up the date of the release....to tomorrow, maybe?

3. Carlos Santana

Carlos Santana:

When Carlos Santana released the first single off his new album, he left us all dying for more. The tune “La Flaca”, which features Juanes, is the first song off his first all-Spanish album Corazon, which is set to be released sometime next year. There’s no time like the present, Santana...just saying.

4. Wisin y Yandel

Wisin y Yandel:

Wisin and Yandel both have solo projects in the works at the moment.  Wisin’s album El Regreso del Sobreviviente is slated for a January 2014 release, and Yandel’s De Lider a Leyenda was released in November 2013. We’re still hoping that the duo will reunite in the studio and surprise us all with a new album...

5. Enrique Iglesias

Enrique Iglesias:

The sexy Spanish singer has been teasing us with singles from his new album for over a year now. We love “Turn The Night Up”, “Loco” and “Heart Attack”....but c’mon, Enrique, just give us the full album already!

6. Calle 13

Calle 13:

In Nov. 2013, Calle 13 released the song “Multi_Viral”, a collaboration between the Puerto Rican group and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Calle 13 hasn’t released an album since 2010, and we’re anxious to hear what else the group has to offer!

7. Romeo Santos

Romeo Santos:

The bachata superstar is set to release his album Formula, Vol. 2 on Feb. 11, 2014. It’s been two years since Santos released an album, and we’re too impatient to wait another two months. Just release it now, Romeo!

8. Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera:

Christina Aguilera is one busy mujer. Between her work as a coach on The Voice and raising her son, Max, we’re sure there’s not much time to write new music. Her 2012 album Lotus underwhelmed fans and critics alike, but her newest song “Say Something” with A Great Big World is beautiful and haunting tune that's been generating buzz from fans. We’d love to see her show off her kickass vocals, and release a ballad-driven new album.
