Camila Cabello is officially a solo sista! The former Fifth Harmony member announced her debut solo album titled "The Hurt The Healing The Loving," set to drop as early as May 19.
Aside from the big announcement – which, of course, is her first project apart from 5H – Cabello also penned a powerful, emotional letter to her fans on Instagram, explaining her motivation behind the album. "'The Hurting The Healing The Loving'” is the story of my journey from darkness into light, from a time when i was lost to a time when i found myself again," she writes. "I was completely broken during that time. I was in the kind of pain that’s uncomfortable to talk about, and it was the kind of chapter you never want to read out loud...."
Cabello continues by explaining her hardships, how she overcame them and one day waking up and being "sick of the sad songs." "I realized the songs were getting happier and happier, and I realized I wasn’t making music just to make an album anymore. I was making this music to heal. It wasn’t until I had made enough songs to listen back to and realized I could hear myself coming back through these songs," the 20-year-old explained.
Luckily for us, the singer rose up from her "darkness" in order to deliver her soon-to-be stellar music. The solo announcement is a long time coming since her departute from the band in December of 2016. She has, of course, kept up with her singing chops, but the album comes as her first official step into the spotlight as a solo musician. Recently, too, the young star wrote a song about her immigrant experience. "I can just imagine all the little girls who have dreams of coming here and feel unwanted," she explained about her inspiration. The singer-songwriter's upcoming album will undoubedtly be just as inspirational.
