This is a big week for Jennifer Lopez—after years of anticipation, her new album LOVE? drops today, along with the music video for her latest single “I’m Into You,” featuring rapper Lil Wayne, and tomorrow, she hits the American Idol stage for a performance alongside Pitbull.
Her latest collaborations got us reminiscing about Jennifer’s history of teaming up with some of the most mischievous (and talented) men in the music industry…
Marc Anthony, “No Me Ames”
The song that started it all! Marc was among Jennifer’s first collaborators and eventually became her last husband, so it’s hard not to see the irony in “No Me Ames.” The single—her second from On the 6—was a big hit in Latin markets, winning two Latin Grammys and three Billboard Latin Music Awards.
Big Pun & Fat Joe, “Feelin’ So Good”
Jennifer’s Puerto Rican brothers clearly brought out the best in her. This upbeat track always makes us miss both the old Jenny from the block, and the late Christopher Rios (aka Pig Punisher), who passed away soon after filming this video. Jennifer later collaborated again with Fat Joe on her hit “Hold You Down.”
Ja Rule, “I’m Real” (Murder Remix)
There’s something about the combo of Ja Rule’s gritty flow and Jennifer’s honey-like voice that we love. And apparently, we're not the only ones! This monster hit off of Lopez's album J to tha L-O!: The Remixes took over every radio station in 2002.
Styles P and Jadakiss, “Jenny From the Block”
This track received mixed reviews from critics, and even we’ll admit we had a hard time recognizing La Lopez under all that make-up and designer clothes. Maybe Jennifer could have earned herself a little more street cred if she left then-boyfriend Ben Affleck out of her video and featured rappers Jadakiss and Styles P instead.
LL Cool J, “All I Have”
Ladies Love Cool J, and Jennifer is no exception. She chose the sultry rapper to guest on her melancholy 2003 track “All I Have,” and then returned the favor three years later on LL Cool J’s dance hit “Control Myself.” But "All I Have" will always hold a special place in our hearts.
