"Idol" Recap: Karen Rodriguez Bounces Back, Scotty McCreery is "Growing"

After her pitchy rendition of Selena Quintanilla's "I Could Fall in Love With You" landed her in the bottom three last week, Karen Rodriguez bounced back with a solid performance of Taylor Dayne's "Love Will Lead You Back." It wasn't her best performance, but at least Karen reminded the judges (and more importantly, Idol viewers) that she has a big, beautiful voice, and that she's hungry to become the first Latina to win American Idol. Jennifer Lopez said it best when she told Karen, "You attacked the song."

Someone else who sang with gusto on last night's Top 12 show was Scotty McCreery, the country singer who may very well possess the deepest voice in America, and who revealed exclusively to us that he's part-Puerto Rican. Scotty, who sang Travis Tritt's "Can I Trust You With My Heart," had the female members of the audience swooning and was praised by the judges for staying true to himself and "growing" as an artist.

Between Karen and Scotty (our two Latin contestants this season!), we think only Karen is in danger of landing in the bottom three tonight.
