The singer was the first ever musical artist to make an appearance on James Corden's Carpool Karaoke but he revealed she didn't want to actually sing.

"She came out and said, 'I'm not singing today.' And she went, 'We'll just drive around and have a chat,'" she said. “Right, but it’s ‘Carpool Karaoke.’ So without that… And then I thought, I just have to jump into it. Even if this bit is just me singing to Mariah Carey, it’s still on the show. It may not be the recurring bit we hope it is, but it’s still probably on the show.”

As soon as Corden started playing music in the car, Carey immediately said, “I’m not singing today, I was up all night.” In the end she did sing but only for a moment.

One group that sang their butts off were Lin-Manuel MirandaJane KrakowskiAudra McDonald and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. The group sang some classic Broadway songs including Rent's "Seasons of Love," and Jersey Boys' "Can't Take My Eyes Off You."
