Netflix is celebrating all unapologetically real women in their series with the hope that we'll all be inspired to talk about women as powerful, strong indiviuals every day of the year. The women we see during every binge session, in turn, reflect a part of each of us in real life. These characters are complex, diverse, successful and everything in between. Consider the strong-willed ladies of Orange is the New Black, for instance, or Kate del Castillo's empowering new series, Ingobernable.

“It is critical that women are depicted in all of their complexity and dimensions, and because of the freedom we give our creators to tell their stories, we see the creation of these authentic characters that viewers have come to love so much," Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix explains.

The streaming even announced additional female-centric show. First, GLOW, which will be a comedy following the lives of women in '80s female wrestling, and second, Cable Girls, the story of four women working for a phone company in the 1920s.
