Telemundo to Launch in Africa in August

This summer, Telemundo will plant roots in Africa. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pay TV version of the broadcast network will be introduced in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa on Aug. 12, 2013.

The announcement comes from NBCUniversal's Universal Networks International; the launch of Telemundo Africa marks the first time Telemundo is available outside of Latin America. According to THR, this African version of Telemundo will exclusively air telenovelas on Multichoice’s digital pay TV satellite platform DStv. Its tag line will be “Telemundo – Feel the Passion.”

Spanish-language programming on Telemundo Africa will be dubbed fully into English for South Africa and most other countries, and into Portuguese for Angola and Mozambique.
