'The Chew' Cooks Up Some Latin Flavor & Celebrates Cinco de Mayo (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)

The Chew is having a grand Cinco de mayo party today – and Latina and The Latin Kitchen (TLK) were granted exclusive behind-the-scenes access!

ABC’s daytime talk show/cooking show taped the special episode yesterday morning in celebration of the unofficial holiday and a new Latin section on its website that’s completely dedicated to Latin food recipes. Titled “Latin Flavors,” the new website tab launches today.

The Latin Kitchen Editor Marie Elena Martinez hung out on The Chew’s set with probably the most fun job ever – a taster. The atmosphere on set was really light and festive, which was expected, since margaritas were stirred at the very beginning of the show’s taping. The show featured ways to create some interesting (and very tasty) twists on classic guacamole, including one made with blue cheese and bacon, another with lump crab meat, and the last with goat cheese. Co-hosts Michael Symon and the very dance-happy Carla Hall made tortilla chips for the guacamole with the help of Daphne Oz.

Oh and don’t get us started on Chef Pati Jinich, who made a chipotle rub on pork ribs that was absolutely delicious (just ask The Latin Kitchen’s Marie Elena Martinez). Jinich was born and raised in Mexico. Other segments on The Chew’s episode featured Mexican street corn (Check out TLK's delicious recipe for grilled corn on the cob.) and ways to create a badass Cinco de mayo party on the cheap.
