One week after Daddy Yankee, 33, made his foray into television acting—with a guest role on the CBS soap The Bold and the Beautiful—two other musicians have booked guest roles on TV shows to shamelessly promote their new albums and hone their craft as actors on the small screen.
Colombian American Idol alum Jason Castro, 23, is following in Daddy Yankee’s footsteps with a one episode guest spot on The Bold and The Beautiful. The episode will air next month and Jason will play himself. He'll perform the song, “Love Uncompromised”—a track from his self-titled album, which was released in April—in a scene involving Hope (Kimberly Matuia) and Oliver (Zack Conroy).
Grammy award winning recording artist, Marc Anthony, 41, is also hitting the small screen. He'll guest star on two episodes of the TNT hospital drama, Hawthorne. His character, Nick Renata, is a straight-laced police officer who meets Christina Hawthorne (Jada Pinkett Smith) while investigating a child abduction and becomes intrigued by her passion for her patients. Rumor has it that Marc—whose episode will air sometime in August—may even become a love interest! In an interview with Iesb.net,, Pinkett Smith raved about Marc’s performance: “Marc came on for two episodes and ripped it. That was a real blessing to have him for those two shows. We did a really interesting episode together.” Season 2 of Hawthorne premieres June 22nd at 9/8c on TNT.
