Nina Garcia is one busy mom. From working as the Fashion Director at Marie Claire to a judge on Project Runway to a best-selling author, this mother of two knows the key to keeping it together (and looking good while doing it). We caught up with her to get her style secrets.
What advice do you have for balancing career and motherhood?
“You have to be passionate about both of them, if you want to do it right. Both of them I love and that is why I do them. I would have to say, what falls through the cracks is my social life, but they are both very fulfilling. And it’s possible [to balance] them; it’s about being organized.
What would say is a great mom-career-woman outfit? For a mother that is balancing both her duties as a mom (picking up her kids from school) and as a professional?
“I’m a big believer in things that are very classic -- a white button down shirt and a great jacket. I usually wear a lot of jackets, it’s like my armor to go to work, and it hides a multitude of things.”
What are three pieces you recommend to the girl who wants to be stylish?
“A little black dress, absolutely, a great pair of pumps, and the perfect button down white shirt that takes you from work to play.”
What Fall trends are you looking forward to?
“Boots! It’s all about the boots this fall!”
