Move over Zara, your posh sibling just moved into the hood and has literally taken over your spot.
Massimo Dutti, the Spanish brand founded in 1985 and which has more than 600 stores globally, finally has a U.S. address for the very first time on the prestigious block known as Fifth Avenue.
This momentous opening came at the hands of Dutti’s owners Inditex SA who owns several retailers including Zara, which once occupied this very address on Fifth Avenue.
“It wasn’t until now that we felt it was the right moment for us to enter the U.S. market with Massimo Dutti,” Inditex Chief Executive Officer Pablo Isla said to Bloomberg Businessweek last month.
The massive flagship store, selling both men and women’s wear, is made up of three floors and is adorned with marble floors, velvet couches, a huge horse sculpture and the most exquisite floral arrangements we’ve ever seen.
Guests munched on yummy appetizers like oysters and cheese puffs while they viewed the collection that consisted of elegant suits, coats, blouses, slacks, sweaters, accessories and more.
We were told that Massimo Dutti plans to expand in other cities like Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, but for now those desiring the high-life of casual wear look no further than the corner of 5th and 54th. Can’t make it to NYC? No worries. You can find their collection online at massimodutti.com.
And right in time for the holidays.
