The 66th Annual Emmy Awards are taking place Monday, August 25 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and with the list of attendees including several of our favorite Latinas like Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara (who is also a presenter) and Dascha Polanco of Orange is the New Black, the foodie in us wants to know: What will the stars be eating and drinking?!
We attended a press preview for the 66th Annual Emmy Awards Governors Ball on Wednesday morning in Downtown LA, which highlighted the food and drinks guests of the Governors Ball (the party that takes place immediately after the show itself) will enjoy. Click through for an insider’s view of the Emmys biggest after party.
1. Grilled Peach and Heirloom Tomato Salad
Governors Ball guests will enjoy a three-course menu designed by Chef Joachim Splichal and the Patina Catering Culinary team. The first course is a Grilled Peach and Heirloom Tomato Salad featuring Little Gem lettuce, candy striped figs, burrata, honey Vidalia onions, peppermint, basil, and toasted Marcona almonds. The salad will be paired with a 2013 Beaulieu Vineyard Maestro Collection Sauvignon Blanc.
Fun Fact: There will be 205 cooks in the kitchen and 45 bartenders on site to prepare and serve the Governors Ball dinner.
2. Filet of Beef
The main course is a Filet of Beef topped with caramelized cippolini and artisan grapes, and served with Idaho 90 potato “bone,” zephyr squash, and crisp lacinato kale. It will be paired with a 2011 Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
Fun Fact: A total of 1,500 pounds of filet mignon and 3,800 Idaho 90 potatoes will be used in the making of this dish for all guests.
3. Chocolate S'mores
Dessert is a classic with a twist: Chocolate S’mores created by Pastry Chef Carlos Enriquez. Consisting of Alunga whipped ganache, torched marshmallow fluff, and graham cracker crumble, the s’mores actually burst in your mouth thanks to the addition of Inaya chocolate pop rocks. Dessert will be served with a 2012 Beaulieu Vineyard Maestro Collection Napa Valley Port. (NV Muscat de Beaulieu will be served at the bars.)
Fun Fact: If you placed the corks of all the Beaulieu Vineyard wines that will be consumed on Emmy night end to end, they would run the length of the entire red carpet. More than 35,500 glasses of wine will be poured!
