Latino Designers Shine at New York Fashion Week

From bold colors to dramatic hem lines, Latino designers were among the ones to watch this season during the 2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Check out their new designs, get inspired and let us know which ones you can't live without!

1. Latino Designers NYFW 2012: Carolina Herrera

The iconic designer's fall collection pops with a freshness and warmth similar to Diego Rivera's famous frescoes. Carolina drew her inspiration from artistic brushstrokes, and added delicate prints to fabrics, including organza. Her timeless mastery leaves a flawless finish on the runway. 

2. Latino Designers NYFW 2012: Calvin Klein

Calvin Klein

Lead Brazilian designer, Francisco Costa created a classic collection of sophisticated black and white bolero-inspired pieces for everyday wear. In an interview with Reuters, Francisco described the new line, "It's very sultry. It's very exotic. It's very feminine and very luxurious."

Embellishment was the fashion designer's theme during New York Fashion Week 2012. A contrast of vivid colors and soft silhouettes decorated the catwalk with a bold presence only De la Renta can demand.

The Cuban-American designer adds a modern twist to his new collection with color-blocking and geometric prints. We love the array of bright hues and dramatic necklines. Looks like neon colors aren't exclusive to summer anymore ladies!

The creative duo showcased plenty of skirt suits in 1960's-inspired cuts and colors. Their patchwork and play of color offered a unique look that stood out from the rest.

6. Latino Designers NYFW 2012: Custo Barcelona

Geometric prints never looked so good! The Barcelona native's ready-to-wear collection experiments with texture, design, fabric, and color. "We mixed lots of fabrics together with the latest fiber technology," he said in an interview, "You're going to see a palette of beige, copper, orange, gray and soft green with touches of red and fuschia."
