DAY 3: Fashion

With the invites piling in, it’s time to swing open that closet door and tackle what to wear head- (to toe) on.

Now it has been said the only rule in fashion is that there are no rules. True. But there are guidelines. Here’s how to hold center stage but still dress for the occasion:

✓  THE OFFICE PARTY: Go retro and channel Mad Men for your inspiration. Pair a blouse in the IT color of the season, oxblood, with a pencil skirt hitting at or just below the knee.

✓  THE COCKTAIL PARTY: Resist the urge to pull out your go-to safety LBD and instead try one of the new tuxedo-inspired looks. Rich fabrics plus stacked-on jewelry make the look formal.

✓  THE UGLY SWEATER PARTY: What else? Get the ugliest holiday sweater you can find. Better yet, go the DIY route and custom-make one.

✓  THE SECRET SANTA BRUNCH: Festive and casual are not mutually exclusive. Mix and match jeggings with a blinged-out statement necklace or leather pants with a tweed blazer in a seasonal color.

✓  THE NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY: Look for texture and opulence. Sequins, Paillettes. Brocade. Jacquard. Lace. Pick one, not all. And of course, wear it with killer heels.

Remember, even in colder months, skin is always in! So care for it year-round. Whether you’re showing off some shoulder or some leg in that ensemble, make sure to exfoliate and replenish daily with a body scrub followed by a moisture-rich lotion.

“Take any basic in your wardrobe up a notch by pairing it with a bold print or texture. Wear a solid black dress with a sequined blazer, or a basic tank tucked into a ruffled skirt. Mixing and matching basics makes a closet filled with endless possibilities!” – Sonia Castaneda
